The collet is made of gold plated brass; back is brass and stamped and patent dated \"June 12, 94, 95.\" It is in very good previously owned condition for being over a hundred years old - Usage wear and patina - The pin and clasp are sturdy and function perfectly - There are not cuts, cracks, deep scratches, foxing or rust; there is one tiny pit that appears to have been done by another pin a long time ago.
