Dear er L\'ATELIER SALON present icon was created around 1750 in Russia. The composition is organized around Christ, who is depicted enthroned and presenting an open Gospel Book. He is flanked by His Mother and St. John the Baptist in supplication, complemented by the Archangels Michael and Gabriel and further back by two church fathers. Kneeling at Christ’s feet are two bearded saints, probably martyrs. The icon is painted on the recessed area of the panel (kovcheg) and is framed by a raised border. The icon is in good condition consistent with age. The surface is covered with craquelure and some cracks are visible, too. The wood is wormy on the reverse (inactive).
