This is a wood and cast iron circa 1899-1900s antique clothes drier rack. It has swing out wooden fingers for placing clothes on to dry. The clothes rack will collapse with the fingers tucked together to be flush against the wall when not in use. This item measures 34\" from tip to end of longest wooden fingers with a span of 59\" when fully extended open. The widest point near the wall mount is 6 1/2\" and measures from the wall 2 1/4\" when collapsed fully to the wall. It weighs 3 lbs 3.2 oz and is made of wood and cast iron brackets. The front finger cast iron plate reads \"GEM m \'f \'g Co Mills Grove PA\" The condition is very good considering its age. It folds down easily and the fingers are tucked away and when extended the drier rack locks into place securely. There are 2 wooden fingers missing to the left side. This item was patented by J.J. Pelton & GEM Mfg Co. in 1899 (see below) This is a beautiful old piece of Americana and would look great hanging alongside other treasured items. Please see pictures for more detailed description.
