Antique 1917 US Army Vintage High Back Packer\'s Riding Saddle:

Up for sale is this rare, 1917 stamped U.S. Army full-rigged high back packer\'s riding saddle. It’s ingreat condition and features a double rigging, double skirts with basket weave trim design, an iron horn, and compass pouch behind the cantle. The seat measure 16” and the saddle weighs approx. 30 lbs. The seat jockeys are slightly curled, there has been a repair to the bottom of the right stirrup fender and there is a small tear on the right side skirt and there is some peeling of the leather on the horn – all pictured. There is an actual “US” stamp on the front left lower skirt corner. At just over 100 years old, this is a great opportunity to own and use an authentic piece of history for reenactment, or it would be wonderful as an addition to a collection of western or US military memorabilia.
Also see the cavalry history book illustration (not included) showing the saddle drawn and labeled as “A full-rigged packer\'s riding saddle ca. 1917.” (original cinches are not available but the current owner had them at one time and they were exactly as pictured in the illustration).
