Description

Here is a beautiful antique ROCKNE SPORTSMANSHIP Notre Dame Stadium trophy sculpture. It is made of a cast bronze color metal featuring a Knute Rockne figure holding a football. The front has a plate that reads \"For when the great scorer comes to write against your name - He writes not that you won or lost but how you played the game\". The bottom is signed by the maker \"MFG, BY D. GOTTLIEB & CO. CHICAGO ILL, PATENT PENDING\". It measures about 6-1/2\" by 4-1/2\" by 5-1/4\" tall and has the awesome original patina. Not sure if this is how the first ones were manufactured or if it has been repaired. The Knute figure is attached by the ankles (see photos). This is how I have seen the other pieces made by this maker. A rare piece of Notre Dame football history that is sure to please.
