An antique microscope complete with a bench bullseye condenser magnifier & slides, all contained within their fitted wooden travel case, and dating to the 19th century.

The microscope has a pivoting brass tripod base on a wooden stand. The brass tube screws in and has an inner draw tube, a 2 piece push fit eye piece, a screw in lens (with a brass tube storage box), and is adjustable via twin thumb wheels.

The brass stage is adjustable in all directions via a sprung ball joint lever, and underneath is a rotating disc with 3 different sized holes. The lower mirror is fully adjustable and has a flat glass to one side (glass cracked with some edge silvering loss).

The bench condenser magnifier has a threaded base for the brass upright, an inner sleeve to adjust the height, and a fully adjustable horizontal bar holding the bullseye lens. The horizontal bar mount is worn making it very loose and the edge of the lens has an inner chip (see last photo).

All is contained within a fitted wooden travel box which has a brass carrying handle, a hinged door with lock (no key, but a later hook & ring closure has been fitted), and a lower drawer containing around 30 various slides - 5 have French hand written titles and the rest are homemade - please see all photos and click to enlarge.

Size : Approx 14 1/4\" tall in the upright position (the tube vertical and the drawtube pushed in). The box measures approx 9 7/8\" tall, 7 1/8\" wide, and 5 1/2\" deep. Heavy for size at just under 3.5 Kg unpacked - please email for overseas shipping quote.

Condition : Overall good used antique cosmetic condition with expected wear / marks commensurate with age & use, untested & uncleaned (all moving parts work correctly). The points to note are : the lacquered brass has expected wear / tarnish, the drawtube & condenser sleeve are very stiff, the platform has lost it\'s slide holding clips, and the wooden lens holder in the box is a tight fit and very loose (there are also some loose wooden fittings, possibly for the condenser base) - please see all photos & click to enlarge.
