This exquisite 19c traveling Japanese shrine stands approx. 10 1/2\" tall and the carved standing Buddha is approx. 7 5/8\" tall. The gilt finish is almost completely intact, but there is some expected minor loss to the lacquered finish of the cabinet and some wear to the beautiful carved figure, including a missing hand as shown. All of the metal components of the cabinet are original and in nice condition, although one hinge is a bit loose. This shrine was brought back from Japan in 1938. Really a lovely object.
