I am pleased to offer this Beautiful Antique 19th Century Victorian Brass Hand Mirror! This beautiful small hand mirror has a hand painted portrait of a beautiful woman encased in an oval frame. The painting is on an extremely thin piece of bovine bone. The painting was skillfully down, and has exquisite detail. The back of the portrait is marked \"Martesson\"

The back of the mirror (side with the portrait) has a fleur-de-lis pattern in the center. The mirror has a tiny screw on the bottom that can be loosened to open the mirror and reveal a secret compartment, and also to gain access to the mirror/portrait.

The mirror is beveled glass, and shows some very light scratching from age.

The brass throughout the piece has an appealing dark patina, whichaccentuatesthe detailing in the designs and gives it more of a bronze tone. Green patina is visible spotted across the exterior, and interior as well. Moderate scratching is present. predominantly on the exterior from age. There are some small nicks along the opening edge from opening/closing the mirror.
