Antique 19th c. Japanese Imari Ginger Jar Octagonal Butterflies/Floral:

This gorgeous Imari ginger jar has 8 sides and is decorated with 4 hand painted scenes in traditional cobalt blue, dark red, green and highlighted in gold. The alternating scenes feature chrysanthemums and butterflies. The jar measures 5 3/4\" in height; it is 5\" in diameter at its widest point and the base is approximately 2 3/4\" across. There is some wear to one of the butterfly scenes (pic #3,12) and to the gold ribbons around the top and bottom. The inner cap to the jar has been adorned with butterflies and is in great condition with no damages; however, the outer cover is missing and has left some discoloration on the rim (pic #8). The inside of the jar has accumulated some dirt/discoloration (pic #9) and would need to be cleaned before use. There are no chips or repairs that have been made to the jar, but there is a small crack/split in the base (pic #10,11) that looks like it may have been from when the piece was fired. The jar will be very securely packaged using biodegradable packing peanuts and bubble wrap. Please examine all photos thoroughly and don\'t hesitate to ask any questions before offerding!
