We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL19th century chair (2 available). Thechair features heavily carved, walnut frame.It is ahigh back designwitha slightly Gothic profile. The back isopen in a Ladder Back fashion with a large, rounded medallion at the tops. The rounded sections arearched and scalloped on their lower sections.It isexquisitely carved in an intricate urn and floral pattern which issimilar to that of the French Brittany style. A carved, scalloped design is also present. The lower cross \"ladder\" supports are arched, with the arches notched in a flower petal design, and have a center carved fan shaped accent. The upper side supportsfeature sections of elongated turned wood and unique finials. Thelegs are turned wood with both upper and lower supports. The front legs are accented with double turned woodsupports as well as an upper support whichrepeats the design of the ladder back pieces. The rush seatis original and features thick fibers which are assembled in 4 distinct, triangular patterns.The chair is in very good condition forage. The wood has some minor areas of wear to the finish. Theseat has some expected wear to the fibers but, in general, it is also in very good condition.From the back view,you can see where the two sections of the back medallions come together.
