This well figured Burr walnut veneered striking Vienna wall clock was manufactured in Austria or Germany circa 1870 - 1880 and has a serial number 54627 stamped in to the back plate of the movement. Some pictures of the movement are included after the item description.The clock has a running duration of 8 days and is in excellent and original condition.The well proportioned and slim case is in remarkable condition andveneered in a particularly well figured burr walnut which has an excellent original gloss finish along with a nice patina consistent with a well preserved antique.The door to the case is of the flat \"picture frame\" style and flanked with fluted flat pillars with shaped blocks at the top and bottom of the door.As with most of the earlier cases the top section is integral and not detachable and has2 ebonised finials either side of a central cresting. The case is in excellent and totally original condition. The leveling screws and brackets are present and the glass to the sides and the door of the case is original.As with all weight driven Vienna regulators the movement is of the highest quality having maintaining power and dead beat escapement for accurate timekeeping. Unlike the vast majority of factory produced Vienna regulators the seconds hand takes 60 seconds per revolution,most take 45 seconds,this is why I believe this clock to be Austrian.The movement is clean and is original to the case. It is keeping excellent time and striking reliably. Striking is every hour (once for each hour indicated) and then once for every half hour on a coiled steel gong fixed to the movement mounting bracket. I have included some pictures of the movement at the end of the item description.The white porcelain dial has Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial ,it is in excellent condition with no damage or hairline cracks at all. The 2 pulleys and the brass cased weights and pendulum are also in excellent condition.The pierced steel hands are of typical Viennese style.As can be seen from the photographs,although over 100 years old this clock is in superb original condition requiring no restoration at all. Height -53 inches Max width - 15. 3/4. inches (at top) Max depth - 6. 1/2 inches Dial diameter - 8 inches.
If the clock is to be sent by post it will be securely packaged in a custom made heavy dutydouble wall corrugated cardboard box with adequate bubble wrap and other materials to protect the clock,I will also include mycontact details should any advice on setting the clock upbe required.Obviously collection of the clock is by far the safest,andpreferredmethod also the new owner of the clock will be able to see the clock runningandtime will be taken to demonstrate the setting up procedure after the clock has been moved.As stated previously my contact details will be supplied should any future advice be required.
