Fabulous, large antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 27\" wall plaque, a \"Fruits of the Hunt\" theme with masterful duck or waterfowl figure hung as if fresh from the hunt and beautifully displayed on this shaped & 2-toned panel! With fabulous detail and superb quality in the carving, this is a near-life-sized display of a duck in solid wood. It\'s always a wonder to me the skill of those 19th century artisans - true artists of the Animalier movement working in wood. The plaque shown here is large and impressive when hung. A single, it\'s simplicity and elegance makes it a favorite for a French Country kitchen or a hunter\'s lodge or gentleman\'s office or den and I just love that ebonized bordering. We have a pair of beautifully carved wall shelf, bracket shelves, that would be fabulous flanking this plaque and displaying either decorative plates or additional carvings on any larger wall where you might be thinking of hanging a pair of plaques. Those are sold separately, and if you don\'t see them in our shop, please ask if you\'d like to be pointed to them.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The figure is carved separately from the rear plaque on which it is displayed, but carved in a large, single solid piece of wood. The tip of the bird\'s lower wing has been chipped off and glued back in place and there may be a small nip to the edge of the plaque in a place or two but, as you can see, it\'s in overall fabulous shape! This is a superb plaque! Opulent large size, and nearly perfectly preserved. Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is recieved (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
