Antique Apothecary Jar: XL Amber Glass, H.K. Mulford, Philadelphia, ca.1910, NR:
$32.55

A large antique pharmaceutical jar, amber glass, semi-square molded form, with original zinc screw-type lid, ca.1910. Embossed on one side: H.K. MULFORD CO., CHEMISTS, PHILADELPHIA. Incorporated in 1891, Mulford took over proprietorship of the oldest drugstore in Philadelphia, located at 1800 Market Street. As a chemist, he specialized in medicine; his company was the first in the United States to standardize pharmaceutical products. In 1893, H.K. Mulford developed the first vaccine for diphtheria. This Amber Jar is in excellent overall condition. There is minor, age-appropriate wear on the base; it is also embossed with the letter \"P\". The upper portion of the threaded rim is ground and slightly rough; the original zinc lid fits securely; with minor wear and oxidation as shown. There are multiple air bubble inclusions in the glass as well. No dings, chips, cracks or other excuses. It is in as-found condition, but can be cleaned in a few areas, if desired. I have seen several smaller Mulford Bottles, but never one of this size. Measures approximately 4\" x 4\" x 8-3/4\"H; displays exceptionally. A nice HTF example that will compliment any collection. Please see photos for details, close-ups and further description. Offered with absolutely ! This Amber Beauty will ship promptly to the highest buyer, anywhere in the lower 48! Good Luck, and be sure to browse my other sales ending daily.
