This antique Fish Dish, sometimes referred to as a Pickle or Relish Dish, was produced by Atterbury & Co. Atterbury was a Pittsburgh firm founded in 1859 and went out of business in 1895. The bottom of the dish has the patent date of June 4, 1872. There is some crazing on the bottom around the patent date, I\'ve seen this mentioned on similar items so it may be from the mold or cooling process. This is a very lovely old piece of milk glass with fire colors in the glass when held up to the light. There are color variations in the glass which are common on older pieces, this is caused by light exposure over the years. The dish measures 9.75\" long and 6.25 wide and stands 1.25\" up from table top. There is a bit of roughness on the outer edges as you can see in the photos, not unusual for a piece this old. The roughness could be from ware or from the original molding process. There are no major cracks or chips. I don\'t see any scratching on the surface of the dish, it is very glossy. There is nice detail on the dish showing the scales on the fish. This is a great historic piece of milk glass to enjoy and add to your collection. All sales are final, no returns.
