This is a beautiful handwoven rare Antique Salt bag made by the Bakhtiari nomads in S-W Persia; ca Late 19th Century; all wool with some cotton highlights; some goathair, good natural colors. Some low pile knots on bottom of Salt bag [ to reinforce ]. The white in the archaic field design is cotton.Goat hair is used in some overcasting on the edges. ca size 1\'10\" x 1\'5\"/ 55cm x 43cm.Good condition for it\'s age; some old repairs on all four corners; top edge is missing ca 1/2 inch.Charming Antique collectible Bakhtiari Sal Bag; will make a beautiful wallhanging and would fit in any textile collection!
