Antique Birmingham Victorian Sterling/Gold locket pendant hallmarked & signed:

This beautiful aesthetic movement locket is Sterling Silver with a fantastic patterned border and lovely two toned gold flowers. I don\'t know the gold content but have seen others like this locket described as having 9 ct gold or as rose gold.
It is just over 2 - 1/8 inches in length including the bale and 1 - 5/16 inches at it\'s widest point and it weighs 11.5 grams.The condition is very good with a properly functioning hinge and closes securely. There are some light scratches and a couple of tiny pin tip sized dings on the back. On the inside one oval ring used to hold the photo in place is present. There is no oval glass only a plastic insert that covered a photo that was in the locket when I purchased it. Also present is a purple oval photo backing paper.
As you can see from the photo, there are lines scratched into the interior on both sides, I\'m not sure what they represent but it appears they are original to the piece. The pictures also show the small indentation on the back side of the front piece of the locket that is used to open the pendant.
The locket is hallmarked with an illegible date mark, an anchor on it\'s side, and a lion. It also bears the maker\'s mark - J. & F.S. My research indicates the anchor is for Birmingham and an anchor on it\'s side dates the piece between 1875 and 1899. The lion, of course, represents the silver content, sterling.
This is truly a fabulous locket and sure to please!
