Heavily carved antique Black Forest cuckoo clock made in Germany, circa late 1800s. Thick solid wood carving of raven, fox, grape leaves and grapes in rich brown. Large clock measures 26 inches high from the top of the crest to the lower carving. 16-1/2 inches wide. 6\" dial with yellowed hands but probably not original. 30-hour movement, signed Gordian Hettich & Sohne, has been fully serviced and is in excellent working condition. Clock will strike every hour and half hour and the cuckoo bird comes out of its door, opening its beak and flaps its wings. The cuckoo has an exceptional sound. Matching hand carved pendulum and two weights included. The wood carving has a few repairs. The tip of the right wing has been glued and matches very nicely, the tip of the leaf on the right hand side of the clock is missing as shown, and the back panel has a split that has been repaired. One bellow has been replaced, while the other is original to the clock. Made by one of the top clock makers, in very good condition, nice large dominating size.PA residents please add 6% sales tax.
