Antique wood and brass apothecary scales. Balance cased scales with weights in a black glass based glass and wooden framed case. Manufactured beautifully by Zandtman & Koft in Germany these were used and serviced in England as attested by the servicing tag in celluloid at the top. Dating to the turn of the 20th century these are an impressive scientific instrument which could be used either as a set of apothecaries scales or in a kitchen as a novelty set of scale. They appear to be working well but wold most definitely need calibrating to ensure accurate readings. These have a great aesthetic quality which make them ideal as a display item. All 4 sides open up so access can be had from everywhere.

CONDITION

This scale and case are in very good condition considering age and use. There is a chip and some discoloration to the black glass base at the back- please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description.
