Up for sale is a fabulous early to mid 19th century bronze English sundial with the engraved signature Siddall Chester, either denoting the maker or the original location of the sundial, on the outer margin. The numbers are Arabic, as opposed to Roman, and the gnomon, which is 4 inches high,is securely attached to the dial by two bolts. This sundial seems to have been detached from a base and is now free standing, raised off the ground by three legs (see photo). The patina is a beautiful golden bronze.This is a genuine, authentic, antique sundial made in the early to mid 1800\'s.
