This is a different style antique child\'s dress with a nice country look. This would look hanging on a peg rack with other country clothes like aprons and bonnets. This could also be worn by a very large doll, like over 30\".

The original neckline has just the plaid binding and looks nice that way. At some time, someone added a lace collar to make it fancy and also pinned on a fancy button in the center of the lace. The lace collar couldbe removed if someone wanted to bring it back to the original look. My 4th picture shows thelace collar listed up so you can see how the originaldress looked. There are hundreds of tiny stitches that anchor it onto theneckline. I cannot tell if these stitches are part of the crochet work, so when someone does remove those stitches, the rest of the collar could unravel a bit and need some stitching to keep it in tact for using on another dress.

It was probably a school dress. Has no waistline, but flairs out a bit with a 4\" ruffle at the bottom. There are two fabrics, a brown and white plaid and aplain brown in a light shade. There is a brown panel in the front and the sleeves are also in the light brown, as well as the ruffle at the bottom. The sides of the dress are plaid and thecuffs. The back also of the dress has just the plaid with a small brown insert at the top. There are 11 buttons in the back for closure.

The dress is 23\" long

Shoulder widt 9\" seam to seam

Across the chest under the armholes 9 3/4\" across lying flat

The dress widens to 19 1/2\" across lying flat, just above the ruffle.

The dress is in fairly good condition for the age. There are no rips or stains. There are a few places in the front where the fabric has weakened and one place on the ruffle where it has broken through. You can see some dark spots in the front of the dress at the bottom. That is wear the fabric has weakened. The fabric has white threads in one direction and brown in the other. It look as though the white threads of the fabric weakened, leaving just the brown which gives it the dark look. It also needs to be ironed or freshened up a bit.

My last picture shows the dress hangingin the vicinity ofsome blue and brown aprons. This was taken at a show and I wanted to include a picture with the dress hanging upnear other country
