Antique Brussels Point de Gaze Duchesse Bobbin Lace Bird Butterfly Floral Leaf Fan

This Victorian era antique Brussels Point de Gaze, Duchesse bobbin lace bird, butterfly, floral, leaf fan dates from the 19th century. It is hand made of a sheer off white finely done combination of Brussels Point de Gaze needle lace and Duchesse bobbin lace. There is a delicate hand constructed filmy linen stitch, half stitch, veined leaves, flowers, butterflies and 2 variety of birds, a parrot and hummingbird, with a decorative leaf scalloped border edging. This exquisite lovely lace piece has been created in a half circle crescent shape and might have been used on a fan or collar dress trim. It has been beautifully matted and framed, a one of a kind work of art! The frame measures 22 inches long and 12 inches wide, the lace measures 26 inches long and 5 inches wide. It is in excellent condition, with only some slight faint age spotting discoloration along the bottom. This is truly a rare, museum quality and exceptional piece of antique Victoriana lace art!
