This is a very rare and beautiful antique Boxwood and Ebony Chess Set.The patina on this set is a mark of how much this set was loved and used over the years is does have some ageddint\'s andscratches.
All matching original felts..Kings side rooks and Knights are crown stamped.Beautifully carved knights.
This set has had repairs in the past to somecollars, ears and thecoronetof the ebony queen.
This is abeautifuland high quality set as youwouldexpect from a top maker of this era.These set are currently attributedto F.H.Ayres however moreproof of this may be needed.
The box is covered in leather and padded with silk inside it dates the same as the set,even though the set came in this box,I am not sure if is theoriginal.The box does suit this set and it fits inside quite well.The box does showsingeof wear and tear.
