Thank you for looking into our sale of this fine ANTIQUE CHILD\'S WOOD ROCKING CHAIR. This rocker was my father\'s chair when he was a child in the early 1900s, and it was used by my (older) brother, then by me, then by my brother and his children when they came to visit. It is still in very good condition, and ready to use. As I remember it, the original seat and back were caned with something that was approximately 1/2 inch wide. In the early 1950s, my father replaced the caned seat and back with pieces of plywood that he had at the house, and then he varnished that wood, so that it would match the other wood on the chair. He used two pieces of plywood for the seat, and then a small knot came out of the plywood, leaving a little gap in the center of the seat, but that has never been a problem. If you are into that kind of thing, it might be an interesting project to re-cane the seat and back. The chair measures approximately 25 inches from the bottom of the runner to the top of the back frame, 17 inches from the seat to the top of the back frame, 14 inches from the end of the armrest to the back of the back frame, 16-1/4 inches from the outer edge of the armrest to the outer edge of the other armrest, 10 inches across the back of the seat and 12 across the front of the seat.
