SUPERBANTIQUECHINESE BLUE & WHITE SCHOLAR CUP

Exquisitehand painted blue and white Chinese porcelain cup. Gorgeousblue underglazedepicting three scholars in a serene garden amongst pine trees. The artistic images are outlined in dark blue then filled in with subtle shading. Much detail adorns the scene with split bamboo fences, flying birds, individual pine needles, and carefully rendered costumes. The effect is quite handsome. The tranquil scenewraps completely around the exterior of thisoutstanding bowl,which is thinly potted and translucent when held up to the light. A recent estate find in Seattle purchased from a collection of many fine Asian antiques.We have estimated ageto theQing Dynasty, 1800s, however it could be somewhat older.Thissuperb porcelain cup measures approximately2 1/2\"across and 1 9/16\" high, and is in excellent display condition, we note a small tight hairline which is barely visible only upon close inspection in the right light (lookcarefullyinthesecond photo). Combining sublime form andtasteful decoration, this impressive porcelain cup would make an outstandingaddition for thecollector of fineChinese antiques.
