Rare Chinese silver filigree screw back earrings featuring cloisonne blue and red enamel in a floral designSet in silver filigree embellished with twisted rope design
These earrings were intended to carry scent and they unscrew to enable a piece of silk or cotton to be impregnated in perfume or oil. Sometimes just herbs were placed inside.
The ball measures 22mm x 22mm (excluding handle)Weight 14.8 grams
The earrings are unmarked but have been tested for silver and have been left in original uncleaned condition.The enamel show signs of wear.
Sadly, only one earring has retained its screw back fitting but they would make a lovely pendant or just to hang in a room or handbag as a pomander.
