An Early Hand carved Santos of a male figure of A Saint (Peter?). This I believe to be either 18th century or earlier based on the carving, the rose head hand wrought nails that were used over the centuries to secure it to a shelf, the patina and degregation of the paint, as well as the pest holes and damaged associated with the wood worms. Some original gilding and paint remains.

This piece was actually used as a candelabrum and many years of wax residue remain. Was obviously used up against a wall as the back was more roughly carved and left unpainted. One can see that it was carved from a solid piece of wood from the bottom of the piece.
