Rare barrel shaped Civil War era from the mid 1800s traveling inkwell. Stands 2 inches tall and is just under 1½ inches in diameter. Great patina, the wood is Lignum vitae or rosewood. The lid screws on and off with ease and the interior reveals the original glass bottle reservoir with years of dried on ink. The original old ink bottle is held tight against the cork in the lid. There is a small age crack and a chip in the rim on the lid. Perfect for display with a confederate soldier\'s personal effects. A most unusual desk accessory for your collection and conversation piece.
