Antique Civil War Leather Cartridge Case&Cap Box MAKER MARK Dated 1862 Brass:

Signed JB Thaxter, Portland, Maine 1862 clearly on both pieces. I am offering them together as I purchased them together and think they should stay together.

The larger piece measures 9.25\" x 7\" x 2.5\" and the cap box 3.5\" x 4\" x 1.5\"

These two pieces are authentic and beautiful with age appropriate wear. The inside of the cap box has what looks like a bit of shearling on the inside back.

The cartridge case does not have a strap and is missing one of the buckles on the bottom. Please have a good look at the photos as I have tried to accurately photograph condition and beauty of them. Send a message with questions and I\'ll do my best to get you the info or photos you may require.

The cartridge case appears to be for 58 caliber though I\'m not certain. The brass US plaque on the cover is extraordinarily lovely and softened and worn with age.
