Item: Antique 1916 Original Photograph Congress Hotel Chicago Amour Smoker Mens EventCondition: Excellent framed condition. Well preserved. See photos.Interesting Background Observed: Antique phone on the table in lower right hand corner. Paper hats, Flag of Japan, Men with Fans and possible asian wear in very back. I have done a little research with the information I see on the photo. The Congress Hotel is a historic landmark in Chicago and still a hotel today. Based on the banquet room it looks very much the same as it did in 1916. The event is interesting because all the men are wearing interesting paper hats. I could not find exact information on Amour Smoker but the Amour family in Chicago is and was well known for their smoked meats and canned products, they even made and marketed Dial soap from the meat packing by product. There is also a park where the White Sox play that is an Amour park. This event could be associated with either the meat business or the park/baseball. I would love any additional information if you come across this. Very great photograph and subject.
