About UsReturn PolicyShippingPayment The Cats Pajamas VintageSurprise in every package!Antique Coverlet Scraps C. 1845 Jacquard Weave 2 Date Blocks John This antique Pennsylvania jacquard weave coverlet has two large date blocks telling us its from 1845, and made by John Seibert, Lowhill (TWP Pennsylvania). Theres enough to use as trims, accents, decor - you can frame the blocks, they are in very good shape.
The lot consists of:
1 piece with the date blocks, 72 x 22, in really great condition, with the fringe on one end. I don’t know the pattern but it is so Early American, in bright pink, blue and green.
1 72 x 17 same coverlet, poor condition
1 72 x 25 same cocoverlet, fair condition
1 72 x 9” same coverlet Fair condition
Note, though all the same pattern the roughest piece is more faded. Extra piece 84 x 36 included, from a different coverlet. Its damaged in the center, but theres pieces to use for pillows, trim or other. Its in a star pattern in red, white and blue.There were 2 John Seiberts, Senior and Junior, both of Low Hill Twp., Lehigh Co., PA. Senior was born 1796 in PA, died 854, and his coverlets (some undated) were woven between 1843-51. The book by Clarita Anderson, \"American Coverlet Weavers and Their Coverlets\", says it is impossible to tell whether Jr. or Sr. was the weaver, since they worked over the same period. There was also a son Peter, also weaving, and an apprentice weaver named Benjamin Hall working at the same place. Jr. was b. 1824, Peter b. 1821. Peter also uses \"Made by\" and \"for\" in his corner blocks.
