This is a magical Dresden lace figural group: two ladies at leisure in baroque courtdress, one playing a lute.

There are a great number of \"crowned N\" marks that havebeen used on Dresden porcelain, and they are not always easyto sort out. This one is, however. It\'s the one used by ErnstBohne (& Söhne), Rudolstadt, awell-regarded German porcelain manufacturer in Thuringiafounded by Ernst Bohne in the 1850s.

Ernst Bohne (& Söhne) used this mark from 1900 to 1920 afterwhich the factory was sold to the Heubach brothers and the marks changed. It\'stherefore it is estimated by an appraiser to be circa 1900 - 1910.

The piece is beautifully made and hand painted and the applied flowersaround the base elevate it from the normal and therefore much prized bycollectors and admirers of \"Dresdenlace\" lace figurines.

The lace trim is actually made from real fabric, either muslin or genuinelace, which is dipped in liquid porcelain clay (called \'slip\'). When the pieceis fired the fabric burns away in the 2000 degree heat of the kiln leaving theporcelain lace behind.

Approximately 7.25 inches tall and 10 inches at its widest. This piece was kept locked in a displaycabinet for years. This seller sees noflaws but it is not boxed so please look carefully at all pictures. Also, please don’t hesitate to askquestions.
