Antique EARLY 1800s Decorated HAND WROUGHT IRON Hearth Cooking STRAINER #3
Antique EARLY 1800s Decorated HAND WROUGHT IRON Hearth Cooking STRAINER #3 Folk Art --- It is very hard to find early utensils made with this much skill and care and attention to design and details --- Lancaster or Lebanon County Pennsylvania origin --- retains a nice aged untouched surface patina. It is wonderfully crafted by a blacksmith during the first half of the 19th Century (ca. 1800-1850). The strainer has some wonderful details - stamped/punched 8 circles decorate the front of the upper flattened handle section plus a nicely wrought rat tail hanger to facilitate hanging - the bowl is in good condition. The bowl is attached to the handle via 2 rivets. A beautiful Pennsylvania German example. The strainer measures approximately 18.5\" in length with a 5\" diameter bowl.
