So here is a Victoria solid Sterling Silver Antique oval bowl by Ellmore. I believe made by AKA Frank M. Whiting approx. 1940. Read below. In fantastic condition, needs a little polish. A few scratches, normal wear. Weighing in at 1.07 Lbs/oz. Oval shape with beautiful trim. 11” by 8” and 2” deep. This piece says Victoria Sterling by Ellmore, but this pattern I can only see as by Frank Whiting. If anyone can tell me different, please email me. However this beautiful bowl is solid Sterling Silver.Frank M. Whiting Sterling Silverware Company - A Brief HistoryFrank M. Whiting Co. began making silverware in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1878, when it was known as Holbrook, Whiting & Albee. The company became a part of Ellmore Silver Co in about 1940, and that firm went out of business around 1960. Crown Silver Co. of New York later acquired the Whiting dies. The company mark of a griffon and a shield with a W was used up to 1896, and later a W in a circle flanked by stylized leaves.
