Here we have a very decorative and collectable piece of Victorian English majolica dating from around 1880.This lovely, relief moulded large corn on the cob shaped jug or pitcher is nicely modelled with one of the leaves of the corn cob forming the handle for this great pitcher.The jug main colour is yellow for the corn, green for the leaves and there is a lilac coloured glaze to the interior.It is a very striking piece and a great example of this highly collectable pottery. It stands approximately 9 inches high and is 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the wideset. It weighs 898g unpacked. The jug is in good antique condition, there is some minor rubbing or flaking to the glaze at the spout and a crack to the base. There is a large partially ground blob of glaze on the base. It was probably made in Stafforshire possibly one ofthe renowned majolica makers, such as Holdcroft, Minton, George Jones, Wedgewood, Copeland who all produced a very similar ware.The jug features avery pretty, realistic, palette of colours. The main colour is yellow for the corn, green for the leaves and there is a lilacinterior.It is a very striking piece and a great example of this highly collectable pottery. It stands approximately 9inches high and is 4 1/2inches in diameter at the wideset. It weighs 898g unpacked.The jug is in good antique condition, there is some minor rubbing or flaking to the glaze at the spout and a crack to the base.
