The sterlingsilver handle of this antique stiletto is nicely shaped and has allover hammered texturing.It is stamped with theBritishsterling hallmarks for Birmingham 1908 and has a rubbed maker\'s mark. Itmeasures 5 1/4\" long and thecondition is excellent with no dents or other damage. The turned shankissteel.

Stilettoshad a variety of usesincludingunpicking stitches and creating eyelet holes in fabric that were thenembroideredaround in a technique called Broderie Anglais. Theywerealso used to transfer design outlines to fabric, pricking paperpatternsalong the lines and then rubbing them with a pounce pad or coloredchalkpowder.
