This sterlingsilver thimble is English and I think it has the silver hallmarks forBirmingham 1893. Thedate mark is rubbed but looks like the 1893 \"t\" to me. In any event, itis prior to 1900 because the Birmingham anchor mark is on its side. Adimpled translucent gray/beige stone is set intothe top.It has a wide engraved rim and a hand engraved band. It has the maker\'smark for James Fenton.

Thesilver is in excellent condition with no holes, dents or other damage.The stone is perfect. It isaboutanAmerican size 8 (15 mm diameteropening).Several Englishstone top thimbles in this style areshownon p. 86 ofBridget McConnel\'s book TheStory of the Thimble.
