This clock is a truly beautiful antique English triple fusee musical 8 bell Louis XIV style black shell boulle inlaid bracket clock of superb proportions and of a high quality retailed in Paris by S Wartenburg in approx 1840 The case features a typical Louise XIV boulle design with black shell construction with the finest of brass boulle inlays covering the clock with loads of solid bronze ormolu mounts decorating it all with thier original ormolu finish which looks absolutely stunning. The case has glass panels to sides through which the movement can be seen. The top of the case lifts off to reveal access to the 8 bells and movement which was a typical feature of these clocks with a bronze ormolu cherub figure to top holding an implementThe case is in excellent condition for age with all the black shell still present and looks amazing wherever it is displayed totally orginal with original patina and colour to all the bronze ormolu mounts exactly how you want to see itThe shell case has a stunning colour and patina to it which is acquired through age and looks a lot better in the flesh than the pictures show. This is exactly how i have received it and it looks 200% better in the flesh with good original cast bronze ormolu mounts contrasting it with original finish and patina to themThe clock features a high quality embossed ormolu bronze and porcelain dial with embossed centre scene and porcelain numeral cartouches with blue roman numerals and original english hands again all in great original condition. The dial has a drop motif to bottom of it with a porcelain retailers name plaque to centre with the french retailers S Wartenburg Paris protected by its thick glass and ormolu bronze fancy hinged door with working lock and keyThe movement is absoulutely fantastic striking on 8 bells and 1 gong. The quarter chiming musical chimes every quarter of an hour on 8 bells and the hourly strike on a seperate gong on the hour after the musical chimes have finished playing. The movement is of superb quality with 6 spoke wheelwork to all wheels which is very rare to see in a triple fusee clock. The quality is second to noneThe movement is in perfect working order and is chiming superbly and ticks away beautifully as you can see from the video aboveThe movement comes with its original barrell pendulum all working fantastically keeping perfect time as you would expect from a high quality clock and sounds absolutely stunning when playing the 8 bell tuneThe clock measures an impressive 33 inches high x 14.5 inches wide x 8 inches deep and looks super impressive wherever it is displayedThis is a perfect investment clock and a beautiful display piece.
