Wonderful vintage sewing box. Small metal horses are pulling a metal egg carriage. Unsure what the metal is, it looks like it was lightly painted gold, possibly over copper? The egg container looks like porcelain. It opens to act as storage. These were mostly sewing containers that fit a small pair of scissors, a thimble, and a needle and thread. The contents are not included. The marble base is missing a corner and shows a previous repair. Overall it is still a great old piece that evokes a very French provincial feel to it. The base measures 5 1/4\" x 2 7/8\". The carraige and egg cart measure slightly larger at 5 7/8\". The egg compartment is pretty much life size measuring 2 1/2\" x 1 1/2\".
