ANTIQUE FIGURAL NAPKIN RING: THE JESTER - RAREThis is one of the rarest and most sought after of American figural napkin rings. The figure is a court jester from Medieval times. The detail is excellent and the ring is large and imposing. It is over 4 inches tall and more than 4 inches long. The jester leans against the ring while holding a staff in his right hand. Everything rests on a long, oval base which has an earthen surface. There are several projections which could have suffered damage, but all are intact. The napkin ring was made by Meriden. It has on the bottom the number \"0258\". This is a very special figural napkin ring. It is pictured and discussed on page 145 of the book \"Figural Napkin Rings\" by Gottschalk and Whitson, where it is given the highest possible rating.
