This double bow top frame came with us from France. It features a pair of gilt trimmed circular frames surrounded with faded green silk. The frame also has a white painted outer frame and a gilt bow top. The frame has gilt ornaments such as an eagle and wreath corners that are applied with tiny nails and indicate the frame to be from the early part of the 19th century. The frame has a functioning easel back as well as a loop for hanging. The overall condition of the frame is good: the outer frame looks to have been repainted and has some missing gesso. The green silk is faded and slightly discolored consistent with age. Otherwise the frame is intact and very pretty!
Measurements are: 8 1/2\" by 7 3/8\" by 1/2\". The openings for the photos are 2 3/8\".
