This finely detailed 1860s-70s cast zinc alloy (spelter or “white bronze”) figure of a Turkish Zouave soldier measures 13 5/8” to the tip of the soldiers rifle; 13 ¼” to the top of his head x 5 ½” x 6” at the base. The composition is dynamic viewed from any direction and the sculptor has taken extra care in rendering the particulars of his uniform and battle paraphernalia. The base has a dent and tight, stable stress crack and the barrel of the gun was broken off and glued back on.
