GENUINE ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK TIMEPIECE ALL COMPLETELY ORIGINAL WHICH I HAVE JUST FINISHED CLEANING AND OILING. COMES WITH ITS ORIGINAL DOUBLE ENDED KEY.

I am retired (with professional horological training), and have been restoring antique clocks as an interest for over 35 years. I specialise in antique and vintage carriage clocks. I finished just this afternoon cleaning and oiling this one in the peace and quiet of my workshop (!). It is in exceptionally good condition and looks really pretty on display.

BRASS CLOCK CASE:Solid cast brass in perfect original condition. All case parts bear the same matching number (36), showing it to be totally original. The opening rear brass door is an absolute perfect fit - a good sign for obvious reasons! The case had been well lacquered when I acquired the clock so rather than stripping the lacquer off, I simply gave the case parts a coating of micro-crystalline wax polish to give them some added protection.The whole case now has a lustrous antique patina which should last for years.

MOVEMENT: Excellent quality 8 day \"Corniche\" timepiece with its original cylinder escapement. [Corniche movements have a separate dial plate with the motion work positioned between it and the front plate of the movement. The case as a consequence, is a little deeper than the standard carriage clock case in order to accommodate the larger movement].After removing the dial and carefully checking the movement for wear (none found), I cleaned it and then oiled it with appropriate high-grade clock and watch oil. I also cleaned and oiled the escapement. The movement is now in perfect working order. There is a fast/slow adjustment lever which is reached through the opening rear door. The movement should not need servicing again for many years.

DIAL:White enamel-on-copper with a colourful floral swag beneath the chapter ring. Bold roman numerals with each five minute marker highlighted with a small gold dot and the time marked on the outside of the chapter ring in small arabic numerals. It is in perfect original as are the delicate polished blued steel hands.

GLASSES:All five thick bevelled glasses are I believe original and in perfect condition (save for the microscopic chip to the corner of the rear door glass already mentioned).

KEY: The clock comes with its original double-ended brass key which fits both winding arbours snugly: one end is for winding the 8-day movement and the other is for adjusting the hands.
