This full size quilt composed of alternating red, tan and white triangles has red embroidered Victorian quotes and some bible verses on the white triangles in print letters. The quilt has a double border oftan and red and the back is white. I am not sure of the name of the pattern but each triangle is perfectly balanced. Fitting twotan triangles together create four rows of tan squares with two rows of tan triangles at each end. There are five rows of white triangles bordered with red and tan triangles with sayings in embroidered red (total of 20) with a different saying on each. One of myfavorites reads \" A soft answer turneth away wrath But grievous words turn up anger\". ThereareBible related themes such as \"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not\". This is a thin summer quilt and is unusual in that although the quotes are definitely from the Victorian period which would date the quilt top at least in the late 1800s it has been machine stitched. The stitching is unusual in that it is not straight across but indifferent patterns for each square. The material used may be homespun. There are no holes but the tan material has frayedin several places and there are age stains on the back. The tan material has faded on to the white in several places on the front, but the red material is in good shape and all the embroidered sayings read well. The quilt measures 80\" by 67\". Although not perfect, this quilt is a wonderful representation of the sentiments at the time and the color combination is very pleasing.
