on this BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE Art Nouveau CAST IRON GILDED FRAME,(narrow enough for a mirror, photo)or we were told it could be a frame for a thermometer...The antique frame measures, approximately,14 1/2\" tall x 7 1/4\" wide (at bottom width).The opening measures, approximately, 7 1/16\" x 1 1/4\". This beautiful designis deeply embossed giving a life-like rounded look to the CHERUB and MAN in the MOON images. The Cherub is at the top and the Man In The Moon Face is at the bottom center. There are also ROSES and FEATHER LIKE swirlsin the same design ..PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES and closeups.There is anopen \'slot\' in the top on the backfor aslendermirror, a photo, painting/artor a thermometer can be slide down into place. The cast iron frame is an antique with age related wear to the gilding .. we did not try to clean or repaint.. cast iron where gilding is worn off hassome surface scaling showing through.. the back prop (easel arm) has missing piece on the bottom (see pics-but still stands) PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES for a more concise visual description. Guess-timate as to its age...at least 1880 to 1900..(just a guess). It is heavy...not a reproduction. No Visible Maker\'s Mark...Please email with any questions before end of sale.
