A beautiful conversion piece with a very old clasp that was turned into a pendant at some point. The pendant has a full size, beautiful detail to the gold setting and vivid color from the amethyst. The amethyst has a striking cushion cut that is just under 3/4”at its widest point. The amethyst is thick with a domed shaped that has faceting on both sides giving it a lot of depth in color and sparkle. The stone has a bright clarity with just a few tiny inclusions and slight shifts in color saturation. A beautiful stone that doesn’t have any chipping or surface wear. There are no irregularities to the intricate and ornate gold setting (one teeny tiny brad missing from the bottom of the pendant) and the delicate pearls are all intact and look original. The structure of the clasp, from the back is visible from the front of the piece but it creates a kind of visual frame and structure that contrasts with the swirls of the gold work. Overall this is a striking and finely made, 14k gold and natural amethyst pendant, that is from the Georgian era around 1830 that is in very good condition.
