9860 Georgian Penwork BoxDescription
An antique Georgian Regency period penwork box. It is of flattened sarcophagus form with canted top and in-sloping sides. It is beautifully decorated using the penwork technique wth fine detail in the Florentine style. It stands on four gilt brass paw feet which are perhaps antique replacements. It has a lock and comes with key and tassle. The interior is plain, and it was probably a desk box or similar. A lovely example and a rare item.
Condition
Feet perhaps replacements (at an antique period). Interior relined with paper and painted red - done sometime ago. Lock is not functional. Knocks and dents to the box in keeping with period.
