The decoration is currently on sale till the listing ends. I am listing several Antique/Vintage Santa Decorations this week. This is an Antique Decoration German Belsnickle Santa seated on a Paper Mache Nodding Elephant with Painted Eyes and Cream Felt Saddle. The pair is of German origin but unmarked. The Santa is paper mache or composition and has a hand painted face with a rabbit fur beard. He has a Goose Feather Tree Sprig tree and the Santa can be removed from the Elephant. The Elephant approx 5" tall and approx and 9-1/2" long from tail to trunk. The head nods and the tail goes up and down. The Santa is approx 5-1/2" long from hood to boot and the two together are approx 7" tall. There is normal wear to both pieces and there is paint wear to the Santa's boots and the Elephant had repair and paint touch up for reglue to his rear and back leg and one front leg and down his belly and areas on his back have some repair with paint touch up also. The Elephant is very old with a neat nodding system with the head and tail involved and his original felt saddle that is glued to him. Someone asked if the tail is a replacement-I honestly do not know if it was repaired or replaced. The hole to even try and fix something like that is not very big and it would have to be attached to the nodding mechanism in back. Shipping to US only $9.75. I accept Paypal.
