I recently purchased a small collection of antique greeting cards. From what I can ascertain, it seems that the recipient, Blanche Meier was a young lady who immigrated from Germany to the USA. Many of the cards in the collection are in German and may be from before she immigrated or perhaps from friends or family still living in Germany. I suspect though, that she saved the cards from her childhood in Germany and continued saving cards once she was living in the USA.This listing is for what looks to be a card of congratulations for a Confirmation. I was raised Catholic and that faith has a formal Confirmation but I don\'t know if other Christian religions also have confirmation. This has a textile cord with tassels on the ends on the side and the forget-me-nots and the cross are embossed. The printing ink has some luster or glitter in it- still very fresh looking and bright. There are paper pages on the inside with a poem- sorry, too complex to translate for you. The poem is by R. Prutz. This is done in a lovely old type face.The card is small, measures 3 by 4-1/2, this is just lovely. An old price is written in pencil on the back, probably the price when originally purchased.Please be sure to look at my other listings for more wonderful pieces from this collection.
