A large and quality made porcelain figural piece of German origin. The hand applied mark similar to Sitzendorf however the monogram beneath the crown varies from the usual S and the mark is hand applied?
Two Society ladies gossip or perhaps discuss philosophy with books and letters at hand. It is well detailed and features hand detailed floral patterns in gilt lustre and various coloured enamels. The Floor attempts an interesting effect with a dragged linear affect across the applied colours to create a carpet or rug like texture.
Some forgivable losses to the delicate Dresden style lace, bows to the ladies hair, and floral petals here and there. A hairline crack running across the base is seen from beneath only. Minor chipping across bottom front rim edge. Essentially remains in very presentable condition as shown with no glued repairs, delicate features such as hands etc all fine.
Cobalt hand applied mark as shown.
The base measures 26.5cm x 15cm, weight is 2.25 kilos approx.
