This is for an antique Greek Italian Grand Tour colichemarde blade small sword dagger, circa 1890. Of rapier form, the cast hilt with figural pommel, and cross guard with figural quillion (1 quillion a/f), the scabbard is also highly ornate, cast with classical figural scenes. The blade The sword has a distinctive Colichemarde triangular-section tapering steel blade, which is chased at the forte with foliage decoration. This type of small sword was probably taken back as a souvenir by a gentleman on his Grand Tour of the classical cities of Europe. The sword measures 57.3 cm in length overal. The blade measures 38.1 cm in length. It weighs 945 grams. The condition is generally excellent, the metal has the patina of age. Please see images.
